Eric Rigby reports
Some newspaper articles have recently referred to the growth in the number of the world’s population going hungry, one article quoting a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation official to the effect that for the first time in history more than 1,000,000,000 people would be going to bed hungry that night. The explanation given was that this was due not to food shortages but to price increases caused by speculators who have moved into food and commodities markets since the tightening up of regulatory control in financial markets after the recent financial crisis of 2008.

As editor of the book I would just like to thank Eric for writing the review and The Friend for publishing it. It is extremely rewarding that the review recognises and appreciates all that we were trying to achieve. This is the first published review the book has had and we sincerely hope that The Friend has set a precedent which others will follow. If you read the book and enjoy it please do tell others who you think might be interested. With sincere thanks, Mark Tanner. Editor of The Debt Generation.
