Intellect versus Spirit

Can the intellect say anything useful or meaningful about the Spirit? I am going to argue that it cannot and we should not try to say anything about God or the Spirit. What we can talk about is the impact that a relationship with the ineffable has upon us, and how we respond in thoughts, feelings and actions.  If one’s spiritual experience is, let’s say, one of a vision of Jesus walking beside me, or it is of a voice speaking from the clouds, then we need to ask ourselves: ‘How is it? Why am I responding in this way to my experience of the Presence?’ What we cannot do is say that Jesus is God, the Spirit, the Presence or whatever, or that God speaks in a voice from the sky.
