A real sense of the spirit in the heart of France
Congenies Meeting House was under discussion | France Yearly Meeting
France Yearly Meeting, small in numbers, but rich in spiritual energy, gathered at Pontmain on the Normandy/Brittany border for the second year. The venue is a former seminary, a huge, solid, rather austere, spacious building in many lovely acres of tranquil woodland. Here it is believed that in 1871 two boys saw a vision of the Virgin Mary, a bright light in a star-studded sky. The sighting was attested eventually by others and in due course the site became (and remains) a centre of pilgrimage.
It was Light too that drew almost thirty Friends to reflect on aspects of the historical Quaker witness in France
