A convinced Quaker
As Quakers we’re encouraged to attend to what love requires of us. Last week in York we attended to what love required of us, after twenty-two years of careful discernment. It was a magnificent and historic minute that we finally approved on the Friday afternoon and I felt a palpable sense of grace break over the gathering. Throughout the week we’d heard moving testimonies from couples in same-sex relationships, and challenges from feisty young Quakers who stood courageously in that huge central hall urging us all to be true to our testimonies of truth and equality.
