The archaeological dig in the grounds of Friargate Meeting in York, which has attracted a lot of local interest and press attention, is concluding.  Andrew Jones, an archaeologist and member of Friargate Meeting, has made an appeal to Friends for information regarding one fascinating object that was unearthed.

Cheltenham’s summer heat wave arrived in perfect time for local Friends and their Meeting house. Sixteen solar panels were installing on the Meeting house roof at the end of June – just before several consecutive long hot summer days.

QPSW call for action on tar sand

Quaker Peace & Social Witness (QPSW) is asking Friends to call on their MP to back EU legislation to keep tar sands fuel out of Europe.  Environmental groups argue that tar sands oil produces twenty-three per cent more carbon emissions from extraction to consumption than conventional oil.
