Quakers keep close eye on finances

How British Quakers are trying to avoid the financial problems that have affected American Friends Service Committee

As the shockwaves of the dramatic cuts made by American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) – which recently cut its staffing by a half, reduced wages and cancelled programmes around the world – continue to reverberate (6 November), Britain Yearly Meeting is working hard to ensure that such a situation is not repeated here.  Gillian Ashmore, recording clerk of Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM), told the Friend that the situation was under close monitoring, as current work is not sustainable given BYM’s level of income, and cuts to spending and ways to increase income are both being considered.
