The first Quaker Equality Week took place from 6 to 15 March 2015. More than eighty Meetings took part. The week was an initiative of Manchester and Warrington Area Meeting.

Enid Pinch, one of the organisers, told the Friend that the Area Meeting Social Justice Group had wanted, for some time, to run a national event on economic inequality.

‘Our hunch was that Quakers were very exercised about the economic gap. We were right!’ she said. ‘We are glad that we were able to help Meetings express their disquiet. The enthusiasm was tremendous and there are many good ideas bubbling up.’

Enid added that the group will host a follow-up meeting at Central Manchester Meeting House on 20 June. The campaign is not over, she stressed.
