My association with the Religious Society of Friends dates back to my time in Leeds when a local group of enthusiastic Young Friends attracted other young people to its activities. A number of us eventually joined the Society and became active members.

The reason why we remained was not simply the warm sense of community that was on offer, nor was it the openness and inclusivity so characteristic of the group. There was a deeper reason – the fact that Quakers, young and old, were able to communicate, indeed were eager to communicate, what they had learnt about worship, why they attended Meeting regularly and what they gained from doing so.
